Tooth extractions involve the removal of an entire tooth from its socket in the jawbone. It is generally recommended when tooth decay is deep and extensive, and no treatment options like fillings or root canal therapy can save the natural tooth. It is also performed when the tooth is severely infected or while undergoing orthodontic treatments to make space for properly aligning the other teeth.
